Ingredients

  • Creamette lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 3 cups marinara sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese whole milk
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh oregano chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes optional
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the Meat: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Add ground beef or sausage, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Mix in 1 cup of marinara sauce and set aside.
  • Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Season with salt, pepper, and half of the chopped parsley.

Layer the Lasagna:

  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Place a layer of Creamette lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
  • Add a layer of the meat mixture.
  • Sprinkle with some fresh basil and oregano.
  • Repeat these layers until you run out of ingredients, ending with a generous layer of marinara sauce and a final sprinkling of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake the Lasagna: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let it Rest: Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Replace meat with roasted vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini.
  • White Sauce Variation: Use a white sauce or bechamel instead of marinara for a creamy white lasagna.
  • Storage Tips: Store leftovers in airtight containers and reheat in the oven or microwave with a splash of water to retain moisture.
